After announcing major changes to the award categories last month, the MTV Movie And TV Awards finally kicked off on Sunday night.

The awards had a bit of a rough start as a freak hail storm descended on Los Angeles just as the celebrities were arriving for the red carpet. After an hour of icy downpours, MTV officials had to cancel the red carpet show as the weather got worse.

Once all the celebritries were safely inside, host Adam DeVine began the Awards with a ‘Beauty And The Beast’ spoof, which caused further trouble to the show when the small parts of the set caught fire. The show continued unhindered though and soon the winners were being announced.

The major win of the night went to Emma Watson, who beat Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy to win the all-new Best Actor Award. The Best Actor category was introduced this year and replaced the separate Best Actor/Actress Award. Best Movie went to ‘Beauty And The Beast’, which starred Watson and technically brought her wins of the night to two.

Millie Bobby Brown won Best Actor In A Show for the Netflix hit ‘Stranger Things’, which coincidentally also won ‘Show Of The Year’. Hugh Jackman probably wasn’t too disappointed with missing out on ‘Best Actor’; he and his ‘Logan’ co-star Dafne Keen won ‘Best Duo’ for their moving performances as Logan/Wolverine and Laura/X-23 respectively.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees!
