It’s no Oscars, but the TV Week Logie Awards sure do get Australia excited. Sunday night saw the small screen’s brightest stars take to the red carpet and then the awards stage for Australian television’s ‘night of nights’.

Red carpets are arguably the most popular event of any award show and the Logies are no exception. Various shades of red and pink seemed to be the popular choice of dress with Carrie Bickmore and Delta Goodrem among those to don red gowns.

Gold Logie nominee Jessica Marais went for a sheer, glittering dress reminiscent of Beyoncè. Elegant, chic black gowns also made appearances on Asher Keddie, Rebecca Gibney and Tina Arena.

The night also boasted some big winners. The coveted Gold Logie went to actor Samuel Johnson for his portrayal of screen legend Molly Meldrum in Channel Seven’s drama ‘Molly’. Channel Ten bagged several major awards; ‘Have You Been Paying Attention?’ took home the award for Best Entertainment Program while ‘The Project’ won Best News and Current Affairs and ‘The Living Room’ got Best Lifestyle Program.

ABC also got several bites of the apple with wins of their own; Most Outstanding Comedy went to ‘Please Like Me’ and Debra Lawrence won Most Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role in the show, while ‘Four Corners’ won Most Outstanding Public Affairs Report.

Australian television’s ‘night of nights’ has always been spectacular and this year’s Logies were no exception.
