The 2017 Billboard Music Awards are officially underway in Las Vegas, hosting the biggest and brightest stars of the music industry and handing out shiny awards to winners in over 30 categories. Here’s what’s happened so far at the Billboard Music Awards:
Rapper Nicki Minaj opened the night in a spectacular fashion, performing her biggest hits combined into a medley and featuring special guests Lil Wayne, David Guetta and Jason Derulo.

Lorde also took to the stage ahead of the July release of her hotly-anticipated second album. As did Miley Cyrus, making it the first time she’d performed at a major award show since her change in look and sound.

The big winners of the night are undoubtedly Drake and Beyoncé, who took home the ‘Top Male Artist’ and ‘Top Female Artist’ awards respectively. Drake also scored ‘Top Billboard 200 Artist’, ‘Top Hot 100 Artist’ and ‘Top Rap Artist’, just to name a few of the awards he raked in.

Beyoncé also went home laden with awards, winning ‘Top Touring Artist’, ‘Top R&B Artist’ and ‘Top R&B Album’, again just some of the many awards she scooped up. Drake and Beyoncé are also competing for the ‘Top Artist’ award which is yet to be announced with Justin Bieber, Adele, Rhianna, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande among those also nominated for the award.
