One Direction member Louis Tomlinson has been arrested in Los Angeles after an incident with a paparazzi at LA International Airport.
Tomlinson allegedly got into a fight with the photographer when he and three other people started attacking his girlfriend, Eleanor Calder.
“There was some pushing and shoving and one of the paparazzi fell down,” the LA Police Department said.
The Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department said Tomlinson was released from custody on US$20,000 (AUD$26,385.22) bail.
Tomlinson’s lawyers released a statement to the media blaming the incident on the paparazzi for getting a little too close for comfort.
“The paparazzi provoked and caused the altercation that occurred with Louis at the airport this morning,” the statement said.
“This is not the first or last time that a paparazzi has created an altercation with a celebrity.
“While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking [Tomlinson’s] girlfriend during this incident and he came to her defence.”
No formal charges have yet been made. Tomlinson is due to appear in LA County Superior Court on 29 March.
