The Council Of Fashion Designers Of America (CFDA) called the timing of Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 5 fashion show “disruptive” and “unfair”.
West had initially scheduled the event at Pier 59 Studios, 15 February at 5pm.
Following these comments, West had to reschedule the anticipated Yeezy Season 5 debut.
In a nutshell, West hadn’t communicated with the CFDA of his plans for the show which resulted in a scheduling conflict with designer Marchesa.
CFDA president and chief executive officer Steven Kolb has said Kanye reached out to them as soon as he heard of the conflict and immediately looked for other options.
“Kanye called me personally to let me know that he had no intention of showing on top of another designer, and was unaware that there was a conflict,” said Kolb.
“He explained that once he realized Marchesa was in the time slot, he immediately looked at alternative options.
“The CFDA appreciates Kanye’s outreach and effort, and we look forward to working with him far in advance to integrate Yeezy into the schedule in seasons to come.”
Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 5 debut will now be held at 3pm at Pier 59 Studios, 15 February.
